Terms & Conditions
These terms explain the rules for using Real Face Shape Detector. By using the website or detector, you agree to them. Please read them alongside the Privacy Policy and the methodology page.
Last updated: 21 October 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to realfaceshapedetector.com and the face-shape detector, manual calculator, report tools, and styling guides available on it (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by the site owner (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that person and permission to use their image.
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your location. If you are below the age of majority, a parent or guardian should review these Terms and supervise your use.
2. What the Service is
Real Face Shape Detector is a free, browser-based tool that estimates visible facial proportions from a photo or live camera frame and produces styling suggestions. The analysis runs locally in your browser using a bundled landmark model and deterministic measurement rules. No account is required.
The Service is not a facial-recognition or identity-verification system. It does not identify you or anyone else, and it does not provide medical, dermatological, psychological, financial, or professional advice. It also does not guarantee that a hairstyle, frame, beard, colour, outfit, or fragrance will suit you.
3. Informational and styling purposes only
The Service and its reports are provided for general informational and personal styling purposes. Face-shape labels are a convenience for organising style ideas, not a scientific classification of a person. Many faces sit between categories, and styling is personal.
Before making a significant change to your appearance, or where appearance relates to a medical, dermatological, optical, or mental-health concern, consult an appropriately qualified professional. Do not rely on this Service as a substitute for professional advice or treatment.
4. No guarantee of accuracy or suitability
We do not guarantee that a face-shape classification, measurement, quality score, skin-tone estimate, or recommendation is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for you. Results depend on image quality, lighting, head pose, lens distortion, hair, glasses, facial hair, cropping, the landmark model, and the limits of the geometric method.
The report is designed to show uncertainty through alternatives, capture-quality warnings, and an exploratory confidence label. Those features are not a warranty. We do not claim a validated accuracy rate or a demographic performance level. You are responsible for how you interpret and use the result.
5. Your responsibilities and permissions
- You must have the right to use any photo or camera image you submit to the detector.
- If another person appears in, or captured, the image, you must have their permission to use it for this purpose.
- You are responsible for granting, denying, or revoking camera access through your browser and device. The Service cannot override those controls.
- You are responsible for keeping your device, browser, email account, and saved reports secure, especially on a shared device.
- You must not use the Service to identify, track, harass, defame, or discriminate against another person.
- You must comply with the laws that apply to you, including privacy, image, consumer, and intellectual-property laws.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service lawfully and respectfully. You must not:
- use the Service for an unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purpose;
- upload or process content that you do not have the right to use, or that depicts abuse or exploitation;
- attempt to identify a person, infer sensitive attributes, or make decisions about another person based on the result;
- interfere with the Service, bypass security or access controls, introduce malware, or attempt to overload the site;
- scrape, copy, mirror, or redistribute the site or its content at scale without permission;
- remove copyright, attribution, or licence notices from the Service or its assets; or
- represent the Service as your own product or imply that we endorse you, your business, or a claim we have not made.
We may restrict or suspend access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached or where necessary to protect the Service or other people.
7. Intellectual property
Your images and information
You retain whatever rights you have in the photos and camera images you use. Because the photo is processed locally and is not uploaded to us, we do not acquire a licence to your photo. If you email us an attachment, you give us permission to use it only as needed to handle your message.
Our website and content
The site’s original text, layout, design, graphics, reports, and code are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and are owned by us or used with permission. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the public website for your personal, non-commercial styling research. You may print or save a report for your own use.
You may not copy, republish, sell, sublicense, create a competing dataset from, or systematically extract the site’s content without our written permission, except for brief quotation with attribution or as allowed by law. This section does not restrict legitimate rights such as fair use, fair dealing, or other statutory exceptions.
Third-party components and reference images
The face landmark model is the MediaPipe Face Landmarker, distributed under the Apache 2.0 licence. Fonts, icons, and other open-source components remain subject to their own licences and notices. Editorial reference portraits are illustrative examples, not photos of users and not validation data. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of a third-party component or grants rights beyond its licence.
8. Availability, changes, and service limitations
The Service is provided free of charge and on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, permanent availability, or compatibility with every browser or device. The detector requires JavaScript and WebAssembly SIMD support; the first visit may need to download the local model and runtime. Camera access generally requires HTTPS and a device with a suitable camera.
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, pages, or the entire Service at any time. We may also update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the date on this page and may provide a notice on the site. Continued use after the effective date means the revised Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your expectations, produce a particular result, or be free from errors or harmful components.
We do not exclude or limit any warranty or condition that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory rights available to consumers in your country. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, loss of data, or damage to reputation, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes reliance on a face-shape estimate or styling suggestion.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded but can be limited, our total aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us to use the Service, if any, during the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred United States dollars.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. In particular, nothing here limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that mandatory consumer law does not allow us to exclude. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights and remedies available in your country of residence.
11. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains how the Service handles photos, browser storage, email, hosting metadata, and any future advertising. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In short: photo analysis is designed to happen locally, the photo is not uploaded by the app, and some non-photo data may remain on your device or be handled by your email provider or our hosting provider.
12. Third-party links and services
The Service may link to third-party websites or use open-source components. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party site is governed by that site’s terms and policies.
13. General
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any notices on the site, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
These Terms do not create a partnership, employment, agency, or fiduciary relationship. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our permission; we may assign our rights in connection with a reorganisation, transfer, or operation of the Service, subject to applicable law.
The Service may be accessed from different countries. These Terms are not intended to override any mandatory law that applies to you. Where a conflict exists, the mandatory law prevails to the extent required.
14. Contact and updates
Questions about these Terms, a correction request, or a concern about the Service can be sent to [email protected]. The contact page opens a draft in your own email application; it does not send a message automatically.
These Terms describe the rules for this website in plain language. They are not legal advice. If you need advice about your own situation, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
